The Bliss of Natural Candles

Essential oil candles are my latest obsession. After abstaining from candle purchases for about a year and a half, I am now back on the candle buying bandwagon and sniffing until my heart’s content. My candle hiatus came not because I no longer liked candles, but because I wanted to use up all that I had in my home. Interestingly enough, I used what candles were on hand but never found myself purchasing more ‒ likely a result of forgoing them for so long. During this break, I also learned that many candles contain harmful chemicals, so this too added to my refrain from standard store candle displays.
As fall rolled in this year, I certainly wanted a new candle though. So my husband and I went to Target to see if they stocked a single natural candle. I did not have high hopes yet still found myself disappointed after my search appeared fruitless. The pumpkin scented artificial candles were just ridiculously tempting, so my husband decided to persevere and keep looking. Eventually, while still in Target, he surprised me and said he found a natural candle. His Noir Oud Wood & Musk black glass candle was not only beautiful but surprisingly smelled like fall; thus, I was hooked. When I saw the $15 price tag, I was a bit taken aback but then reminded myself that quality does cost more.
Thanks to my husband, I am now living it up with my essential oil candle. I light it every time I sit on my couch and enjoy each and every flicker.
Have you been able to find any natural candles, friend? If so, I would love to hear where you found them! We have decided to try out the Mrs. Meyers fall candles next, so hopefully those will be delightful as well. Eventually I plan to make my own candles and purchase fall essential oils to liven them up. I hope you too are able to enjoy the scents of the season in a healthy way, friend, even if the searching takes a bit of time.
Happy fall and until next time!
